Mixed-Media Artist
Often, I've been asked...when did you become an artist? Forever, I was born one! My parents had always encouraged creativity. My father was a petro-chemical engineer and my mother is also an artist, that combination nurtured a world of possibilities.
Having the good fortune of living in different parts of the world, the local culture of these areas, shaped my art. The vibrant textures and people of the Americas, Europe and Asia have naturally been infused into my work.
After my studies at Marshall University, I migrated to the South Carolina coast. The rich folklore of low-country legends has been also a large part of my inspiration. Having a passion for 3-D work that has evolved towards a whimsical world. The creation of my mosaics, made of variety of materials, just seems to be a natural translation of ideas into images.
Truly, I am fortunate to be able to share my knowledge as a SC Arts Commision approved AIE artist. Encouraging my students to go that extra little bit, results in some of the most amazing projects. Exploring the edges of my art form is exiciting, when you push the limits and have that "Aaaha!" moment-- there aren't words to describe that feeling.
My best advice for any artist, is just Get Busy Making Art!
